Circumstances of detention
Circumstances of detention
Oleh Shevandin was the president of the Wushu Federation of Donetsk Region and an entrepreneur. According to eyewitnesses, in May 2015 he was stopped by armed men in masks, pulled out of his car, had a bag put over his head and was taken away. Oleh's wife Larysa Shevandina said that after this she spoke to her husband only twice — in the first 24 hours after his detention. He was detained by Russian security forces under the command of Colonel Aleksandr Bushuyev and Lieutenant General Valeriy Asapov. "DPR" militants told Larysa that Oleh was "a spy who had cooperated with Ukrainian intelligence services." As it later emerged, the militants sold his car to a married couple, who also received a forged vehicle registration certificate issued by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Mariupol.
